Drawings on Paper
Drawing is intrinsic to my painting, the two cannot be separated. Before on embarking on painting I have to see the whole tonally to assess the composition and form more easily and this can only be done with drawing. The purpose of drawing has changed for me over time, in my formative years it was a planning tool but now I find joy in creating a drawing to the finest detail I can achieve, making it a finished work of art in it's own right. My tools of choice are usually charcoal, charcoal pastel pencils and a trusty putty eraser.
